Today's Gentle Reminder
Outside my house.
Today, I pledge to remember to walk outside my house. To open the curtains
and the step outside. Sometimes outside my house there is sunshine and
a warm breeze and sometimes there are stormy clouds, a cold wind and raindrops
that wash away the stress of the day. I am always amazed at how light
and airy the world looks when I simply walk outside my house. I look back
and see, in my mind, the darkness that I created inside the walls. I am
amazed to witness how the darkness can seem to diminish by simply opening
my door and stepping outside. Our gentle reminder today is to remember
to open the door to our house and to our minds and leave behind the little
room with four walls that seems so dark. Get up, get out and find a place
that brightens your day. Step outside and if you can enjoy some nature.
You don't have to go far.
I am really enjoying my new fixer upper house. I am in "imperfection"
but viewing it as "perfection". In other words I am not really
looking or seeing the weeds or the leaky roof etc. etc. Instead, I am
working on one small spot every afternoon. I stand in that spot, the breeze
blowing over me and I witness the sweeping of the trees back and forth,
back and forth. I laugh at the dappled shadows of leaves as they revel
in their stolen moment in the sunshine.
I close my eyes as the breeze flows over me pulling up with it the
gratitude that I feel now each and every day. I open my eyes to see
pink horizons and the wind swept violet clouds hovering above the lake
and nearby mountain passes. I know soon that drops of rain will wash
away the sweat from the days hard work. I watch the sun go down and
view the vastness of the universe as the evening light show begins;
the same sky now dotted with stars, accented by the moon.... and I hear
nothing but peace. I am in heaven...right here in my little spot on
the planet the same spot that others would choose to see as "imperfect".
It is two steps away from the four walls that I would close myself into.
It is two steps away from where I would close my mind. Remember today,
to step outside, breath deeply, enjoy this day, this moment, without
worry for the future or regret from the past. Granting yourself a few
moments of peace will give you the strength to face your challenges.

You will find your concentration wavering
when you are on either the upper or lower portions of the wave. Lack
of concentration is a key sign that you need to adjust your breathing
and slow down or to allow yourself some TLC to rebuild your energy to
come back to mid-wave. Lack of concentration is not a personality flaw
it may be a sign that you are in an "altered state". It may
also be a way of us distracting ourselves from what we need to deal
with. Don't waste energy reading Email all day, if what you need to
be doing is to make a phone call that you have been avoiding. Make the
call and get back on track or drag the negative energy around with you
for days and months while you give into the avoidance. Focus and complete.
