Today's Gentle Reminder
As you face the New Year let's choose consciously to have faith in our future. Living in fear for the future means that we have given our precious faith over to fear and that we have started to worship the type of faith that says ... bad things are coming and as we begin to focus on the "bad things" we begin to create that which we fear.

The pastor of our local church once stood up and began his sermon in an almost crouched position, standing with knees slightly bent and a few inches apart.

He said,

" If we go about life with one foot in the past pondering our regrets"

and he stomped his left foot out a little farther...then continued...

"and if we go about life with the other foot in worry about the future"...

and he stomped down his right foot a little farther out so that he was a little more crouched down and then he went on to say...

"then we are in the perfect position to crap on today! "

Yes, I laughed.

Every day we can choose to worry about the future or to believe that we are looked after. When we worry about the future we are placing our faith in the existence of want and lack and we place our focus on the negative. We walk through our days sprinkling the negative energy to those around us... a little here and a little there.
When we focus on the negative our energies are drained and our shoulders slump. We begin to believe and worship that of poverty and pain and sadness and evil.

When, instead, we place our faith in universal support then we place our faith in the existence of abundance and joy and our focus turns to optimism and to creation. When we are in the mode of creation our energies are increased and we begin to improve our world with a sprinkle of positive energy here and a dash of joy there.

Bad things happen in our lives and on our planet and when they do they need more faith and more positive creation. These situations do not require any more negativity. Sitting at home spreading negativity will not help to get mouths fed, houses built or animals saved. Only positive action and faith will drive us forward to improve that which surrounds us.

So in 2005, lets start by taking small positive actions and start by improving that which we surround ourselves with each day. Let's start by improving our thoughts, our habits, our homes and the choices that we make. Let's start by looking toward 2005 with all the enthusiasm that we can muster ... and if we are wrong and bad things happen in 2005 anyway will we suffer?

Though 2005 may bring new challenges, because we have pushed forward in positive enthusiasm we will have mustered enough creativity to build something new or solve something old. We may not accomplish world peace but at least we will know in our little piece of the world that we have not crapped on today!

Take care of yourself.. Happy New Year.
Indigo

Quote of the month

"Inaction breeds doubt and fear. Action breeds confidence and courage. If you want to conquer fear, do not sit at home and think about it. Go out and get busy."

Dale Carnegie
(1888-1955, American trainer, author, "How to Win Friends and Influence People")
