RE: Medical Marijuana You will read below that some people find it helps and some do not. I wanted to add my official position on the meds and also marijuana. I am not against anything that helps people to deal more effectively with the high or low energy waves. I am against medication as the first thing that doctors prescribe. I am against the side effects of medication when many reports show that a placebo (sugar pill) and therapy seems to work as well. It depends so much on the individual.
Sometimes we need medication and sometimes people will find help in drugs
or alcohol or some other things that help to calm us...but my goal is
to promote a process of "as clean as possible"...meaning that
yes, we use medication to help when necessary and then we continue to
work with the doctors to bring us to the combination of the lowest amount
of medication combined with good tools and habits (The Wave Riders Book
being just one of these tools, positive therapies etc). For some people being without medication is dangerous and so I always ask that readers work with their doctors to find the minimum level so that the side effects can be minimized as well. For some people this may lead to the end of medication and for some it may not and they may find help in marijuana. I personally have witnessed too many lives destroyed from marijuana (even though they say it does no harm) and those who are in the midst of using it are the greatest supporters of it. I will not, however, close my mind to the possibility that for some people it just might work. I found this wonderful quote in the book by Gordon Livingston MD "Too soon old, Too late smart" The good news is that we
have effective treatments for the symptoms of depression; the bad news
is that medication will not make you happy. Happiness is not simply the
absence of despair. It is an affirmative state in which our lives have
both meaning and pleasure. So medication is seldom enough. People also
need to look at the way they are living with an eye to change. We are
always talking about what we want, what we intend. These are dreams and
wishes and are of little value in changing our mood. We are not what we
think, or what we say, or how we feel. We are what we do. Indigo Irwin Kennedy |

RE: Medical Marijuana Hi guys, |
| RE: Medical Marijuana Reply Posted: February 25, 2006 I just came across this site. I've been diag. manic depr. about 33 years ago. Lost bus., marriage. Now married for 27 yrs. been a pot smoker for about 35 yrs. At times, it seemed to help, but in looking back, it was present during suic. attempts, and right now, doesn't seem to really help. I was presc. lithium when first diag. Took it for about a year, then stopped denial "I am not retarded (about 22 yr or 23 yr old)" Now just coming up on 55. Must be retarded. been on lith. for about 4-5 yrs Still smoke, but considering stopping. I am not getting better. Although I will say pot helps with my appetite and the like concerning pain from my advanced scoliosis (messed up spine), I have been on vicadin for 4-5 yrs. and( oxycotin short stint, really fouled me up) because of scoliosis. If there is a way to live without any meds (except lith.) and live without constant pain I will do it. So far no help. I know pot is illegal, so is suicide. I hope I am not out of line with this transmission. I don't really talk this way to a lot of people. Where I live, to have a presc. for thc, (tablets) I have to have cancer, or be doing chemo. Right now, things suck. I am getting to the end of my rope. I hope to be able to maybe buy this book Wave riders I've done a lot of things while being bi-polar. Pilot, inventor musician, father, husband, business man. All for naught. I think I am about to lose completely. Gotta get the book. Thank you for letting me respond and vent a bit good luck to all of us. GWG |
